The Lafayette Guide to Custom Step-and-Repeat Photo Booth Backdrops

A sequin wall photographs beautifully, takes ten minutes to set up, and works for 80% of the events we book in Lafayette. The other 20% need something sequin can’t do: a custom-printed step-and-repeat backdrop with a logo, a monogram, or an event title repeated edge to edge.

If you’re planning a gala, a brand activation, or a wedding where the backdrop needs to do real branding work, here’s how to think about it.

When a custom step-and-repeat is the right call

Three signs you should commission one instead of pulling from our in-house collection:

  1. You need to feature a logo (or several). Sponsor walls at nonprofit galas, branded corporate activations, and ribbon-cuttings all need a backdrop that puts the logos in every photo a guest takes.
  2. The event has a unique visual identity. A wedding with a custom monogram, a milestone birthday with a specific motif, a launch event with a campaign creative — sequin can’t carry that.
  3. The photos will be shared publicly. When event photos hit Instagram, LinkedIn, or local press, the brand should be doing the work in every frame.

What we’ve learned from past Lafayette projects

We’ve designed and produced custom backdrops for events including:

  • One Acadiana’s Regional Celebration — branded with the organization’s identity for a room full of regional business leaders.
  • AAF Acadiana’s American Advertising Awards (the ADDYs) — the “Order of the Eternal Eye” themed backdrop matched the event’s creative campaign.
  • Lourdes Foundation Blessings Soirée — logo-forward design with themed speech-bubble props built by our friends at Prop Box.

Three takeaways from those projects:

Logo repetition isn’t random. A good step-and-repeat uses a measured pattern — typically 6 to 9 inches between logo instances — so logos appear clearly behind every guest regardless of height. Too tight and the backdrop looks busy; too loose and the branding disappears in close-up shots.

Match the print to the print booth. Glossy prints reflect studio lighting badly. We default to matte vinyl with a low-sheen finish so the logos read cleanly in both portrait booth photos and roaming photographer shots.

Plan around the print booth’s framing. Our Portrait Booth shoots with a fairly tight crop. The logo size and spacing need to be calibrated so at least one full logo lands behind every guest, even in a single-person shot.

The production timeline

Custom step-and-repeats are not last-minute work. From the moment you send us your final approved artwork:

  • Proof and revisions: 3–5 business days
  • Print production: 5–7 business days
  • Stand fabrication (if needed): 5–7 business days

For a smooth Lafayette event, send us artwork 4 weeks before the date. We can move faster in a pinch, but rush production costs more and leaves no margin for revisions.

What we need from you

To quote a custom step-and-repeat we need:

  • Vector artwork of the logo(s) — .ai, .svg, or .pdf
  • Brand color codes (PMS or hex)
  • Backdrop dimensions — most events use 8’ × 8’ or 8’ × 10’
  • Event date and venue (so we can plan delivery)

If you don’t have vector files, we can usually work from a high-res PNG, but the print won’t be as crisp.

Pricing range

Custom backdrops typically run between $400 and $900 depending on size, materials, and whether you need a stand. We frequently bundle the backdrop into a full photo booth package, which lowers the per-line-item cost.

Request a quote with your event artwork and we’ll send a turnaround estimate and a sample of similar work from past Lafayette events.
