Glam Booth vs. Traditional Photo Booth

By Carlos Lerma

A glam booth produces clean black and white portraits with studio lighting and a subtle skin-smoothing finish: no props, editorial, flattering to everyone. A traditional booth is color, props, and play. Choose glam for weddings and galas where elegance is the point; choose traditional when you want the booth to be entertainment. They cost the same with us: $500 to $900.

We run both at Louisiana events every weekend, so here’s the real difference, without the hype.

What “glam” actually means

The look people call the Kardashian booth isn’t a filter slapped on a phone photo. It’s three things working together in our glam booth:

  1. Studio lighting set up to sculpt faces the way a portrait studio would
  2. Black and white processing that strips the color chaos of a reception and leaves clean, timeless images
  3. A subtle skin-smoothing finish that softens without turning anyone plastic

No props required, and honestly, none wanted; the aesthetic is the draw. Guests dressed for a wedding or gala already look the part, and the glam booth is what makes them look like they walked out of a magazine.

What the traditional booth does better

The portrait booth is color, props, group shots, and custom layouts that carry your wedding colors or brand. It’s the better pick when:

  • Your event runs on energy and humor rather than elegance: think themed parties, school events, festivals
  • You want your colors, logo, or theme in the photos, not stripped to black and white
  • Props matter to your crowd; nothing beats a feather boa for breaking the ice at a mixed-generation reception

What we see at weddings

After hundreds of receptions: glam wins with formal, evening, and black-tie weddings, where the prints look like they belong in the album. Traditional wins with casual and playful receptions. And plenty of couples split the difference; the glam black and white filter is available as an option on portrait packages, so guests choose per session.

Both booths come with the same operational spine: attendant all night, instant prints, digital delivery, online gallery, delivery and teardown included. Same pricing too, which is broken down in our wedding cost guide.

Decide in one look

The imagery honestly does the selling here: the glam booth page has real examples from our events, and the comparison table lines both up against everything else we run. Still torn? Check your date and tell us about the dress code; that usually settles it.
